Be A Patient
Whether you have taken a course recently, or many years ago, we include you in the Aerie community. We appreciate it when our students want to stay involved after their class. A great way to keep your skills sharp and up to date is volunteering as a patient for one of our courses. Many of our courses use volunteer alumni or medically trained volunteers from the community as patients for our scenarios. If you are looking to simply stay involved, refresh your skills, or just have fun you can reach out to inquire about our upcoming courses that may need patients. For our courses teaching EMT level skills, you may receive continuing education credits towards your upcoming EMT refresher. Our instructors will be able to sign off on any applicable credits when you volunteer. Most courses that use volunteer patients are our Wilderness First Responder courses, W-EMT/EMT, and Semester in Wilderness Medicine courses. When volunteering as a patient, a course instructor will provide you with the details you will need to come prepared. This will include wearing outdoor gear you are willing to get dirty (and in some cases, torn or ripped), warm layers in case you are outside for extended periods of time, snacks and water, and anything else you may need or your instructor asks you to bring. Contact our office at info@aeriemed.com to find out more about volunteering as an alumni and have a part in our students learning from realistic and quality scenarios.
