Update on COVID-19 and the Summer Semester
April 25, 2020
Aerie Backcountry Medicine is closely monitoring developments of COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) and have the following updates regarding the Summer Semester in Wilderness Medicine.
Aerie has shifted the dates of the Summer Semester program which now starts July 13th and end August 30th. This shortens the program by about two weeks compared to other years. However, students will still be able to earn all the professional certifications and all 15 University of Montana credits advertised for the Summer Semester program.
Aerie will be tracking travel guidelines from the CDC and working with our Medical Director, Dr. Greg Moore, to manage risk to our students and staff. For the Summer Semester program Aerie now allows for a refunded deposit whether or not the program runs as we understand that this is a dynamic situation.
Students have the following options if they choose not to participate in the 2020 Fall Semester:
- Transfer registration to a 2021 Semester in Wilderness Medicine Program.
- Students can enroll in a shortened program during which they could earn a W-EMT and Red Card for a discounted price.
- Students can be refunded their deposit.
