Aerie has been teaching wilderness medicine courses at the University of Montana for the past 14 years. WFR courses are typically held with six days on campus and two days of field exercises at a field camp, often at UM’s Lubrecht Forest or the Whitewater Institute’s facility in Cyr, both approximately a 30 minute drive from Missoula. UM WEMT courses held on campus are ideal for UM students and residents of Missoula with jobs during the day. WEMT courses typically four full weekend field exercises held in nearby backcountry areas.
Local hotels, campgrounds are available. Most students stay on campus or in the Missoula area.
Food during classtime is typically available at the University Center on campus.
Call the Aerie office for details. Students should be prepared to for a wide range of weather in all seasons and should bring appropriate clothing to stay outdoors throughout the day. In addition, students should bring one set of clothing that they do not mind getting dirty and stained during scenarios.
